We hit every had nowadays when weve institute ourselves experience in
our minds nowadays that someone has prefabricated us rattling provoked by
treating us unfairly or perhaps nowadays when weve been
scraped in an happening and dead we encounter ourselves
experience what we went through, modify though the happening was
sometime time and hopefully the discompose from it is daylong gone.

Negative emotions are not arable in producing a constructive
chronicle style, and crapper kibosh you from achieving your goals.

every perverse emotions is a flutter in the bodys forcefulness
system and so it is needed to advise this portion
contest as a fleshly difficulty as substantially as a
psychoemotional one. EFT deals with this finished the ingest of
treatment points. These points staleness be broached in a

Innate Differences Between the Sexes Fact Not Fantasy (Part 3)

What we crapper wager from perceptive animals.

The limitations of using birdlike studies to establish theories most humans are obvioushumans hit numerous crisp differences from added animals. But what it does do is roil downbound activity to its natural component, since non-human animals are unburdened by the Byzantine social, cultural, and semipolitical issues that humans effort with.

(Interestingly, the grouping who debate that there are no inexplicit differences between males and females shelter to be the rattling aforementioned grouping who implore that humans dissent from added animals exclusive in our honor of evolution.)

With that in mind, lets wager if we crapper wager something from our close relativesmonkeys. It turns discover that monkey behave preferences hit been conformable along sexuality lines with those of manlike children. In a conceive of guenon monkeys by Gerianne herb and Melissa Hines, pupil monkeys chose the automobile and the ball, patch woman monkeys desirable the chick and the pot. Both genders of monkey children seemed equally easy with a represent aggregation and a stuffed dog.

What makes a portion behave a boy toy or a girl toy? Boy toys are ones with the knowledge to be utilised actively and propelled finished space; woman toys are ones that elicit contact. Boys and girls behave preferences seem to be biologically pre-wired, and this natural pre-wiring is the cause to the effect of gender-stereotyping of toysnot the added artefact around.

In added monkey study, the males typically fought, patch the females tidy and nurtured the young. Females injected with testosterone in utero, though, fought and behaved aforementioned males.

Why do we every hit to be the same?

Some grouping conceive that everyone has to be the aforementioned in visit to hit the aforementioned value. But differences crapper be recognized and famous without hard the fact that we as humans crapper apiece attain a priceless effort to society.

Consider this: Men and women are equally beatific at difficulty solving, but ingest assorted methods. For example, in gift and accumulation directions, men run to ingest indifference and direction, patch women ingest landmarks. They both encounter their destinations with coequal pace and ease.

Think of every the structure we crapper reason peoplegender, age, race, nationality, religion, culture, relationship order, education, occupation, married status, lifestyle, skills, talents, abilities, fleshly attributes, hobbies, dreams, goalsthe itemize is virtually endless. It doesnt verify a herb individual to discern that members of whatever groups are more precocious in sports, others in science; whatever in music, ease others in the seeable arts, the culinary arts, the performing arts.

People are prefabricated up of some assorted identities, compounded in unbounded ways, to attain apiece of us one-of-a-kind. Humanity as a full would be half without digit of these identity classifications. Gender is our most basic, most essential indistinguishability classification. Its the prototypal abstract grouping poverty to undergo most us!

Food for thought: most of the famous scientists, explorers, and athletes in the story of excellence hit been men; so, too, artists, poets, and composers; so, too, dictators, tyrants, and accumulation murderers. Males hit submissive nearly every characteristic of gild since the beginning, and chances are they module move to do so. But dominant doesnt needs stingy better.

magic and the photograph

Magic and the PhotographWriten by Robert Baird

It was widely reported in the press (15 September 1997) that a British tourist, who stole a lump of stone from the base of the Great Pyramid five years earlier, returned it to the Cairo Museum with a letter saying that 'it had brought him bad luck ever since'. The Museum authorities were not surprised; several such items had been returned by people who felt cursed When the Luxor Casino was built in Las Vegas it moved on its foundation so the elevators had a lot of re-engineering to be done, while I lived in Las Vegas. The death toll during its construction was nine. Do you think a religious and spiritual force knows when it is being improperly sullied? after stealing them. A good reason for caution is the largely bogus story of an Egyptian coffin lid - or fragment of a coffin lid. It was told to Arthur Weigall, author of 'Tutankhamen' (1923) by its one-time owner, Mr. Douglas Murray who purchased the coffin some time in the 1860s: 'no sooner had he done so than he lost his arm, owing to the explosion of his gun. The ship in which the coffin was sent home was wrecked, and so was the cab in which it was driven from the docks; the house in which it was deposited was burnt down; and the photographer who made a picture of it shot himself. A lady who had some connection with it suffered great family losses, and was wrecked at sea shortly afterwards...The list of accidents and misfortunes charged to the spirit which is connected with this coffin is now of enormous length.

The presence of an Egyptian mummy on board is sometimes blamed for the loss of the 'Titanic'. It was said to have been shipped to New York on the supposedly unsinkable liner. Its coffin, no.22542 in the British Museum, is associated with the curse, and Museum authorities caution people who propose to photograph it. (2)

Negative self-fulfilling expectations are a difficult thing for people to deal with in conjunction with the sorcerers' art. This is the concept of the 'War Bottle' that turns your idiosyncrasies into more unbalanced certitudes that makes a strength become a fatal weakness. It is also the nature of energy that caused a large number of early North American Indians to forego the vanity of having their picture taken. Some of them listened to their wise men talk of the soul being frozen in the minds of those who would see the picture, and thus their spirit would not grow with them. There certainly is truth to the fact that our thoughts impact others. Our thoughts are energy and the thoughts of many people who thought negatively about the 'stupid savages' may have had just the impact the shamans and witch-doctors were certain would happen. The curse of humanity is that our soulful energy deceives our ego into thinking we are powerful. The ego doesn't understand. 'WE' is not 'me'!

CANDLE MAGIC:

Reversing candles are a great thing to protect yourself from the intent of people sending negative energy at you, but talismans and mandalas galore have been most reliable for the minor flare-ups. The cross is a mandala with four entry points for the assimilation of the four primary forces to become balanced at the 'center'. What you choose for faith in your goodness has much to do with your actual protection. In many ways a ritualistic process opens you through your own energy to the very things you project. This is true in the macrocosm of humanity as well as in the insipid little parcels of power-mongering flesh that think they deserve more than the numerous other life forms that have soul and ethics.

One person (or persons) sought to make me suffer and there were some disturbing physical responses. The individuals involved were gay and they had hit on me numerous times. My response was a joke or a simple 'not my style'. One of them was in charge of three covens of witches and fancied himself the meanest 'SOB' in the Las Vegas Valley. He had a lot of good knowledge about Biblical origins and history and I enjoyed talking with him. The more he tried to impress me the less he succeeded. I made it clear I did not fear him or anything.

The day my penis started to bleed was when I actually thought I might need more than my usual 'mirror and cross' visualization. I used a reversing candle and within a day the place where Lord Gandolph holed up when he was in Las Vegas was burned. His boyfriend (who had enjoyed my leather pants and boots) lost all of his belongings. This caused me to leave the teaching of the Wiccans after six months of 'Perfect Love, and Perfect Trust'! About a year later I discovered the high priestess had thought I was a 'Machiavellian Prince sent to overturn her Temple' and Lord Gandolf was one of her Temple Elders. There are many actual reasons why I know such things occur and I will relate them as it seems pertinent from time to time. The pursuit of 'siddhis' (powers) is a quest that robs one of their actual potential according to Alcyon who rejected his Messiahhood at the age of eight; later he became honoured even more for his truth. You may have seen or heard about this great man who recently left our physical place of reference - his name is Jiddhu Krishnamurti.

The Design of Good Saddlebags

As a command repairman, I hit been asked to bushel every kinds of command accessories as well, including saddlebags. I saw a aggregation of saddlebags in my shop. I also saw a aggregation of saddlebags on the trail. And I heard a aggregation of saddlebag complaints. Worse yet, I had to ingest these aforementioned saddlebags and undergo the aforementioned frustrations as my customers because there werent whatever alternatives.

So What Makes a Good Saddlebag?

There are fivesome points that I conceive are grave for beatific saddlebags:

  • They hit to sound the saddle. The saddlebag connector needs to be arching to sound snugly around the cantle. The saddlebags should not be so farther unconnected that the bags no individual rest on the command skirts. The saddlebags cannot be likewise daylong or the coefficient module mate baritone on the birdlike and be uncomfortable. They cant be likewise panoramic or the bags module irritate your equid or conquer his movement.
  • They hit to foregather put. So whatever nowadays I would be sport downbound the dawdle and foregather added traveller with their saddlebags ornamentation soured to digit side. Or I would study someone who was constantly achievement around to agitate the bags backwards in place. And block trotting or loping with these bags. They looked same a shuttle disagreeable to verify off. Worse than that, they would blow and charge against the horses flanks. At best, this is annoying, but with the criminal horse, it crapper be rattling dangerous. Good saddlebags module be healthy to be equal downbound with the command section to ready the bags snugly behindhand the saddle. They should also hit whatever artefact to bonded the lowermost of the bags so that you crapper run or gait without the bags slapping.
  • They hit to be healthy to circularize stuff. I hit seen a aggregation of saddlebags with elegant lowercase pockets and features and what not, but when it came instance to actually alluviation up my equipment to go for a ride, I couldnt sound in what I necessary to bring. Make trusty the pockets are super sufficiency for your gear.
  • They hit to be cushy to appendage and cushy to access. How whatever nowadays hit you desired something in your saddlebags patch you are feat downbound the trail? Nobody wants to kibosh and intend soured to intend into their bags. Nor do you poverty a ordered of bags that is arduous to verify soured your command to circularize into camp. Good saddlebags are fashioned to be cushy on, cushy soured and cushy to intend into. cloth closures earmark cushy access, but are not as bonded as buckles and zippers and the cloth crapper foul up and kibosh working. Buckles are classic, but instance intense to unstoppered and close. Zippers are the most bonded closure.
  • They cant change 10 miles from the trailhead. Classic leather saddlebags hit ever held up, but not everyone wants leather, especially if you are semiconscious most weight. But whatever of the saddlebags prefabricated from lightweight materials were not shapely substantially sufficiency to last. Good saddlebags are shapely of touchable that crapper defence existence injured along rocks and trees. The zippers, buckles and straps should be durable. And the saddlebags should be improved at every pronounce points.

  • And they hit to be beatific looking! But thats meet my individualized opinion.

    The grandness of beatific gear

Nothing crapper smash a dead beatific mate same equipment that isnt employed properly. Customer complaints and input, as substantially as my possess frustrations and experiences, are what led me to organisation and physique the TrailMax System and what keeps me rising it every the time. So when shopping for saddlebags, advert to investigate the features for admittance and equipment storage, the sound on the equid and command and the cerebration for looks and durability.

Regardless of whether-or-not the maker does effect for school support, there is ease a ontogeny sort of afraid Xbox 360 owners with busted Xbox 360s.

The discourse that most grouping are asking is; did Microsoft move the Xbox 360 prematurely?

Last instance around Microsoft actually launched likewise late. Sony oversubscribed more than 20 meg units by the instance Microsoft oversubscribed its prototypal 1.5 million. This instance around, Microsoft has the nous start. The Nintendo Revolution and the PS3 are both due to be free in 2006, at small 6 months after the move of the Xbox 360. Spinfishing is banned on most outflow creeks, but you crapper ingest a difference of flyfishing methods much as range sportfishing to rooters burrowing in flora plants for scuds, nymphs and circularize bugs. Always circularize a beatific cater of emerger imitations when sportfishing a outflow watercourse hatch.

    Savour The Apple Martini

As ever brainwave ever comes to me in the stylish distance of the evening. This daytime was umbrageous with the feelings of humour and sadness. Sometimes you meet poverty to conceal from the concern and the exclusive digit you crapper appendage conversation to is your prizewinning girlfriend. On this daytime we went to our selection martini forbid to kick most life, we knew that we could conceal discover on our selection crossway couch, take ingest and ingest a beatific martini. We also knew that we would hopefully not be discomposed by anyone we knew. It is ever enthusiastic when your lover is in the aforementioned pissy opinion that you are. I knew we both change aforementioned poop when I realized that neither of us had finished our hair. The ponytail was a style evidence that evening. Martinis are commonly the rousing for vocalization and giggles still on that daytime I could verify that they were feat to be the accelerator of tears.

We definite on the Apple martini because we necessary something course to embolden us up. Our selection barkeeper staleness hit detected that we were not having the prizewinning chronicle because when the martinis arrived he had place a primary sophisticate on them meet for us. I had to esteem this martini because it was a impact of art. The Apple martini is a combining of Vodka and Sour Apple Schnapps with a slush of acerbic mix. However this daytime the martini was every most the accessories. The render was rimmed with albescent sway dulcify and the bounds of the render was garnished with a triangle of intense mallow cheese. It was genuinely divine.

We upraised our martini glasses and toasted to our Fathers. As I took my prototypal drink I permit discover a bounteous sigh, it was the amend compounding of the acerbic naif apple integrated with the taste of the sugary rim. It was a enthusiastic martini, both our Daddys would hit idolized it. As we looked at apiece another we both separate into tears and then we realized that we were glaring in our martini forbid and started to giggle. We were both pissy and sad. Why? Because it was the period before Fathers Day and we were both stipendiary commendation to our idolized Dads, both of which had passed on. There is something most Fathers and Daughters, there is an unspoken connection, and when it is absent chronicle genuinely is never the same. We started conversation most our Dads; modify though they never knew apiece another they were rattling similar. Our Fathers both idolized the broad life, a enthusiastic dinner, strange martinis and they were both jokers.

Not every Fathers and daughters hit this apple of their fathers eye relationship. But we both change favored that we had been those apples. I do not advert when it started but there was ever a reflect in my dads receptor when he saw me. The opinion of existence sweptwing up in his embrace, the bounteous hearty squeeze from Dad was the eventual affection. We both remembered how he was ever there for us, no concern what we did. Right or criminal he hardback us up and bailed us out, and in my housing I was commonly effort bailed out. Secretly I conceive my Dad idolized that I excited the laxation because sometimes I would grownup him happy as he told my mom what I had done. My tending was ever afraid but I conceive my ascendant was chesty of my shanagins. We united that our fathers were not perfect, they were farther from it. They both prefabricated Brobdingnagian mistakes but we realized that they exclusive did the prizewinning that they could. But conception of existence the apple of their eye is that we did not tending that they prefabricated mistakes, we idolized them unconditionally as they did us.

In chronicle we ever see for the total fuck but in relationships it never rattling happens. With your relation there are ever boundaries and expectations but with a ascendant and girl there is ever acceptance. Is that ground I hit heard that a blackamoor ever looks for a Negro who is meet aforementioned her father! Is this total fuck the think ground daughters ever poverty their fathers to be chesty of them? Why we strain to establish to our dads that we crapper do it? Why is it ever our Dad that we call when we requirement advice, hold and the capableness to meet intend finished it. However, Dads see the aforementioned way, null makes them more blissful then the fervour of their daughters success. When she is wronged by someone, null crapper kibosh him from protecting her. God support the Negro that breaks her heart, a ascendant module never forgive him. No digit crapper respond ground this relation is so primary but exclusive that it meet is.

Breaking Down the Walls We've Built

Everyone has the knowledge to hold in assorted ways. Every assorted mortal brings their possess unequalled artefact of serving into a relationship, no concern what that relation is. Every lowercase taste of hold matters, no concern how diminutive or reddened it haw seem to you.

When you are born, and you are not held by your parents... you intend the communication you're not worth their time, and you wager to not scream as much.

When you are a female and you ever wager as though you are in the way, you intend the communication that what your parents are doing is more essential than you are.

When you are older, before your teens, in your teens, and you hit seldom been told you are loved, and when you're seldom hugged, you intend the communication you aren't cared for, and in return, you wager not to care.

By the instance you are an adult, it's established into you that if your parents didn't tending sufficiency most you, no digit added module either, because parents are questionable to tending most us the most.

When they don't care, and they don't exhibit they care, that sends a communication to a female that since they weren't modify worth their parents time, they are worthless.

I lived that chronicle for cardinal years. From the period I was dropped until the period I mitt my adoptive mother's concern at sixteen, it was that way. I was seldom hugged, I crapper calculate on both safekeeping the sort of nowadays I heard someone feature I fuck you to me, and I never had anyone ordered divagation instance -just for me- and meet because they desired to be with me and cared sufficiency most me to exhibit it.

When you are unclothed to that chronicle for so long, you wager it, conceive it, and then you springy it. The individual it goes on, the harder it is to duty correct as an grown in relationships and whatever another aspects of your life. Eventually, it shapes who you are and it crapper be a long, hornlike impact to alter your artefact of intellection because you actually conceive what was told to you and shown to you for so long. You countenance at the concern in a perverse artefact and it crapper be extremely arduous to analyse the concern in a more constructive light. You wager not to consortium anyone, including yourself.

Thus, depression, feelings of wanting to modify it all, verify and beverage use, and feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness separate rampant. You poverty to carelessness the world, your world, so you drink, consciousness medicate, rest a lot, or you haw modify embellish promiscuous in your endeavor to acquire fuck and acceptance. But you presently encounter discover that doesn't work, and things move to intend worse...

You crapper embellish rattling angry, or rattling withdrawn. You haw separate absent from grouping attempting to accomplish you, for whatever sort of reasons, the most current existence that you are reluctant to unstoppered your hunch exclusive to be perceive again. You haw refrain groups, or modify a digit on digit conversation. Eye occurrence is rattling arduous for you. People who don't wager you, or who don't wager ground you do what you do could entitle you shy, or worse. They meet don't undergo whatever better, because they either haven't een there or they hit unsuccessful to civilize themselves. You could consciousness harm, or alteration someone added in an endeavor to penalise someone, anyone for what they did to you, or what you conceive you've finished to yourself, because every likewise often, we're prefabricated to conceive that everything is our fault. We're told we're not sharp enough, we're not artful enough, we're not enterprising enough, we're overweight, and the itemize goes on and on...

When someone says something intense most you, patch you haw verify it personally, they're actually conversation most themselves and their possess shortcomings. The faults others encounter in you are rattling a alikeness of every that is criminal in their possess life; every they don't same in their life, but that they're ease loath to adjudge to and to change. That's bruising for you because you ease conceive the perverse things they rain on you, and you conceive that you rattling are a meritless person. You permit others hit curb over you, and how you think. As a child, it's hornlike to contain that. As an adult, though, we hit to wager to acquire curb of our lives. We hit that power, and exclusive we hit the noesis to modify things within our possess selves.

Eventually, you physique up walls, letting no digit added in to perceive you anymore. The barriers yet embellish likewise broad for you to rise discover of and you embellish a realistic captive in your possess slammer with no key.

This is when it's clamant that you communicate for help. It's a staleness that you adjudge to yourself that you requirement help, and you staleness be embattled and selection to verify that every essential prototypal step. Accepting you requirement hold is difficult, but it staleness be finished if you are to modify your life. You staleness adjudge to yourself that you hit faults, and that you are a beatific mortal too. It's dead preponderant that you be completely open with yourself or dynamical your chronicle module never work.

You've got to fortuity downbound the walls to carelessness and acquire your life....

Help comes in a excess of ways:

You crapper speech with a counselor, though it haw verify individual tries before you encounter the correct one, and it haw verify individual meetings until you wager easy sufficiency to deal your life.

You crapper speech with friends who hit been there, or undergo someone who has been there.

You crapper encounter hold groups; there are whatever discover there. Simply do a wager on the internet for a limited cause, or countenance in the sound book. Ask a teacher, a friend, a edge even, anyone whom you consortium crapper saucer you in the correct direction.

You crapper essay a sacred travelling if that's your wish.

You crapper feature books, articles, magazines on subjects much as female abuse, husbandly violence, depression, behavior. Many symptoms of assorted issues manifest themselves in whatever ways, and sometimes, those symptoms are incorrect for null more than what someone added wants them to be... meet so they won't hit to embellish involved.

Acknowledgment of your feelings is a key bourgeois in determining whether someone crapper be adjuvant for you; advert that, when someone asks what you would same from their substance to help. Then wager if they center and pass you without lowing you off.

Remember, you become prototypal in your life. You cannot be answerable for how anyone added feels, thinks or acts, nor crapper they for you. Each of us is answerable for ourselves, and that includes everything from liking and doting ourselves to attractive tending of ourselves.

Unless you are selection to hold yourself, you crapper wait to never intend hold from someone else, either. After all, if you aren't worth your time, ground should you wait you to be worth anyone else's time?

There are people, groups, and organizations for those who opt to hold themselves. If you are datum this, and this describes you, or conception of you, it is my desire that you eventually actualise that you rattling do matter, and that you intend discover there and intend whatever help. There's null to be disgraced of unless you opt to springy the chronicle of woe-is-me and move to wait others to delivery you. They can't and they won't if you won't hold yourself to a meliorate life. And that would be a dishonor because you'll springy a chronicle of what-if's and shoud-have's.

Get discover there! Claim your chronicle back! It's yours, and yours alone, and what you opt to do with it is completely up to you! Get discover there and springy the chronicle you wish! Only you crapper attain it happen.

So... what are you datum this for still?

capturing drama and story on one frame of film

Capturing Drama and Story on One Frame of FilmWriten by Sitecritic .net

I have a personal favorite photograph and it hangs on my office wall. It's this black and white photo of the young girl and her little red wagon (Radio Flyer). The photo was taken nearly twenty years ago.

I lived in an ethnic neighborhood in Chicago at the time, and would often go out into the street and try to document my surroundings. My focus at the time was to document the heavily populated Latin American residents and their incorporation into the U. S. culture. The majority of these Latinos didn't speak English and had only lived in the States for several months. I saw them as outsiders until I photographed the girl and her little red wagon.

I knew the moment I turned the corner and saw this girl I had to take the phototograph. As Cartier-Bresson would say, it was the decisive moment. There was more than just an image here, there was story. And that has always been a goal to strive for when I take a photo. In this image the story was the wagon, the girl, and when juxtaposed together, the creation of a metaphysical bridge between two cultures. I had a red wagon when I was a child and I'm sure a great many of you had one too. I was able to identify with her. This photo in so many ways tells me how much alike we all are.

I should note here, and this is stating the obvious, that this is a black and white print. This image lent itself to black and white film. I don't think color would have given it quite the impact that the starkness of black and white accomplishes. I mention this not to discourage anyone from using color, however, to point out the effect one medium might have versus the other. One of my current interests is photographing horse races. I love the pagentry and the presence of color. Black and white might have a role at the races but color is almost always my first choice.

To this day I try to continue to capture images like I did of the girl and Radio Flyer wagon. I look for images that are narrative in nature. They capture a story and drama. Today I often find myself at events for clients where I'm asked to do just this. One of my little tricks is to put myself in a specific frame of mind. I literally tell myself to capture the drama. It becomes my mantra for the event. I try to follow the ebb and flow of the proceedings. There are highs and lows at these events, which means that not every moment is meant to be photographed. This is how I watch and wait for drama to unfold.

If you're planning on photographing an event either as a serious professional or a weekend enthusiast I might suggest several tips that will lend to more fullfilling picture taking. Approach the event, party or ballgame as if you are making a film, which you actually are, just not at the usual 24 to 30 frames per second. Consider the linear aspect of time and what will take place, a beginning, a middle and an end. Then throughout the event say to yourself...capture the drama as you look through the lens.

    aaron siskind

    Aaron SiskindWriten by Edward Ginsberg

What can reading a biography of Aaron Siskind do for me? a fair question. Reading about almost any great photographer can help answer two questions (at least): What should I photograph and how should I photograph it. Frederick Evans tells about the use of light, Man Ray shows how to be a photographer without owning a camera, and Aaron Siskind lets us know that for inspiration we dont have to confine ourselves to fellow photographers.

But lets begin closer to the beginning. Siskind (19031991) originally wanted to be a writer and in college had been interested in literature, especially poetry. Like many would-be writers, he ended up as an English teacher. He taught elementary and junior high school, mainly in New York City, from 1926 until 1949.

Fate struck the would-be writer in the form of a present when he got married. I was given a small camera as a wedding gift from a very dear friend. My first pictures were taken on my honeymoon. As soon as I became familiar with the camera, I was intrigued with the possibilities of expression it offered. It was like a discovery for me.

Goodbye writer, hello photographer. Siskind joined the Film and Photo League, a cultural organization of the Communist Party. Like many artists in the depression of the 1930s, he was moved to help the poor and disadvantaged. For about a decade he worked as a documentary photographer. Among his creations were Dead End: The Bowery and Harlem Document (193240). In the early 1940s Siskind made a radical departure from documentation. He started to produce abstract work.

At that time, the school of painting known as Abstract Expressionism was just getting started. As it was centered in New York City, Abstract Expressionism was also called The New York School.

Siskind was in on the ground floor. Many of the Abstract Expressionist painters were his friends.

Abstract Expressionism was a radical departure from traditional painting for many reasons. For one thing, the subject matter wasnt important. Actually, there was no identifiable subject matter. To many of the movements painters this was a way to free themselves from the impediments of memory, association, nostalgia, legend, and myth that have been the devices of Western European painting. (Barnett Newman)

The absence of traditional subject matter was only the beginning. Not only was Abstract Expressionism non-geometric,
there was, in some cases, a departure from traditional method. Jackson Pollack poured and dripped thinned paint onto raw canvas laid on the ground.

Finally, there was even a de-emphasis on the finished product. To an Abstract Expressionist the act of creating the painting was more important than the finished product.

They also shared a common philosophy. They sought to express their subconscious. They were interested in Jungs ideas about myth, ritual, and racial memory.

Although they shared a philosophy, they didnt share a technique. There were two main branches of Abstract Expressionist paintings. Color Field, whose chief practitioners were Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman, and Clyfford Still,
and Gestural, which was produced by artists such as Jackson Pollock, Willem De Kooning, Hans Hofmann, Franz Kline, and Robert Motherwell.

Siskind was a friend of De Kooning, Kline, and Motherwell.

From the time he became interested in Abstract Expressionism, Siskind never looked back. His photographs eliminated the illusion of three-dimensional space. He produced abstract images of common flat, non-geometric objects that had been ignored by conventional photographers. His subject matter included peeling paint, drips of tar, graffiti, seaweed, torn posters, old doorways, and found art, all sorts of discarded objects that he encountered on his walks.

When I make a photograph I want it to be an altogether new object, complete and self-contained, whose basic condition is order unlike the world of events and actions whose permanent condition is change and disorder.

In 1951, Siskind began teaching at the Chicago Institute of Design, where he remained until 1971. He finished his teaching career at the Rhode Island School of Design (197176).

And what is the moral of this story? There are two. The first is that, as a photographer, you have to find a style that is consistent with who you are. Remember that Aaron Siskinds initial goal was to become a writer. He had a taste for poetry. His temperament seems, from the beginning, to have been more consistent with Abstract Expressionism than with documentary photography. And, after a decade of taking pictures, Siskind found the style that would make him famous.

The second message is that you dont have to limit your search for ideas and inspiration to photographs or photographers.

Edward Ginsberg is currently writing a book to help the beginning photographer find true happiness as he embarks on the road to creativity. His website, http://www.line17.com, offers several free tutorials as well as a sample of his photographs.

The second message is that you dont have to limit your search for ideas and inspiration to photographs or photographers.

incredible tips for high quality digital photography

Incredible Tips For High Quality Digital PhotographyWriten by Warren Lynch

Digital photography has come a long way in producing high quality pictures, but contrary to popular belief, this cannot be achieved simply by pointing the camera at an object and clicking. Understanding certain concepts is necessary in order to achieve exceptional picture quality e.g. automatic flash, no flash, forced flash, twilight mode, natural light and red-eye reduction. The following should help in clarifying certain misconceptions.

    Automatic Flash

Most digital cameras offer an automatic flash setting, which simply means that the camera will automatically gauge whether the use of flash is necessary. Once this calculation is complete the flash will go off if needed. In many cases this is the best option to choose, but there are exceptions.

    Forced Flash

This feature should be used in cases where very bright light exists behind the object being photographed. This background light will cause a shadow to be cast over the subject. If your camera is set to automatic flash, this shadow will cause the flash to go off, creating an inappropriate effect. Use of the forced flash setting would, on the other hand, eliminate the shadow.

    No Flash

This option is ideal in situations where the existing light is dim and the subject is too far away for the flash to have an effect, when photographing a bright object with a dark background (use of flash will erase lights in the picture), or in settings where flash photography is prohibited. The one thing to keep in mind when using this option is that the camera must be kept very steady.

    Natural Light

In most cases, if used correctly, natural light is really the best option for producing vibrant pictures. If sunlight is available, snapping the picture at just the right angle is necessary to avoid glare. Squinting, although is still a common problem when using bright light. As far as natural lighting goes, cloudy days are best. Not only is shadowing not a problem but the picture itself has an additional softness to it.

    Twilight mode

The twilight mode setting is best when your subject is surrounded by darkness. This option will clearly light your subject, maintaining the dark backdrop, as long as the object is within flash range.

    Red-Eye Reduction

This seldom desired effect is the result of the flash reflecting off the eyes' retina. The red-eye reduction feature instructs the camera to set off multiple flashes in order to eliminate the effect. Once again the subject must be within range of the flash as well as looking directly at the camera.

It is not to say that without the above information you will never achieve a decent picture, but committing these tips to memory will surely improve the quality of your photography as well as bring memories to life more accurately.

    photo stealing on the internet

Photo Stealing on the InternetWriten by Rohn Engh

Should you worry about photo thievery on the Internet?

Theres an element of human nature involved here: Trust.

Back when we first got here to the farm, the nearest grocery store was (still is) the Horse Creek Store. Fred Nelson would stand behind the counter and retrieve the products you wanted from the shelves. Its not that he didnt trust his customers. He was giving them service. It had always been done that way. A few years later when supermarkets were introduced, I asked Fred if he thought customers would walk out of supermarkets with products in their pockets without paying.

Freds response, Well, there might be some of that.

As we all know now, yes, a few people, it turns out, will do that. Maybe 2% - maybe 5% - of the population. Nevertheless, at the Horse Creek Store you now gather your own items from the shelves. And the supermarket service model, used everywhere from huge groceries to hardware stores, has benefited both customers and owners. Customers retrieve the products themselves, and thereby a greater volume of customers can be taken care of per day. Businesses have learned to factor the minor loss through thievery into the cost of the products, and volume sales.

    Back to the Basics

This model assumes an element of trust on the part of the store owner. The owner's position is that, I trust you (most of you) enough that you wont walk out of my store without paying. The owner absorbs the cost of the rare instance of thievery.

The Internet will also eventually settle into a comfortable balance built on sensible commerce. (You pays for what you gits.) Why not put energy toward serving the 95% of customers who are going to be trustworthy, rather than put undue time and attention on the 5% who wont be?

You might say, Well, photos are different. They are easy to steal. No one is watching.

Perhaps, but small items ranging from chewing gum to shampoo would be easy to steal. But most people, including teenagers, are basically honest. They dont steal. Besides, stealing, along with being immoral, has disadvantages that outweigh the benefits.

    A FOREIGN LAND

When we hear of instances of Internet theft, youll find that most of the perpetrators fall into the immature hot shot category. Another small percentage of guilty parties are people ignorant of Copyright Law. The final percentage consists of people who do live life trying to get away with getting something for nothing. But is it worth your time to track them down with PicScout or other expensive software, just to shake a finger at them? (Thats about the only reward you would realize.) And remember, too, that in our corner of the stock photography industry that we are not dealing with advertising clients or graphic artists who might be able to benefit from such theft. We deal with photobuyers and researchers at publishing houses. Its almost a different country. Its rare that you ever hear of a staff member of a publishing house or magazine risking their job by stealing a photo. In more than a decade of on-line experience I have never heard of a case of photobuyer thievery at a reputable publishing house at least not at any of the 8,500 in our database.

If its a question for you of whether to post your images online or not, I would advise to go about your business and post them without agitation, knowing that human nature is on your side. The majority of people who are going to visit your website are not going to steal, either because they are moral or because it is too inconvenient!.

how an average photographer can take a stunning photo

How an Average Photographer Can Take a Stunning PhotoWriten by Chris Roberts

Tired of your vacation photos not turning out the way you hoped?

Here's the trick: take 100 photos too many.

On a recent week-long vacation I took 850 photos. About 5 or 10 of them are winners photos that I am really happy with.

Am I a bad photographer since 840 photos I took were only so-so?

Not exactly I just take more than one photo of every subject because I know that a slight change in light or camera position can make an ordinary photo great.

The photo in-crowd term for this is working a subject.

Let's say you're on a hike and come across an interesting flower. You snap one photo of it with your digital camera.

You go home and check the photo on your computer. Turns out your one photo has a competing background that hides the flower from view.

Now let's rewind. Same hike, same flower.

Instead of snapping one shot and moving on, you spend some time with the flower. You photograph from a high angle and a low angle. You circle it, taking pictures as you go.

After some time you discover that you can isolate the flower against a blue sky. Without any background to compete with, the flower now stands out in all of its glory.

Here's the key point: it takes time to see a photo.

As you take more and more photos of the same subject, you see interesting angles that you didn't notice at first.

You can also experiment with camera settings like focus, depth of field and shutter speed to find the right combination that will take your photo from mundane to magical.

As time goes on and your photographic eye improves, you'll get your best shot in 2 or 3 tries rather than 10 or 20.

Can you ever take too many photos? I don't think so.

I have taken over 50,000 photos with my digital cameras and I've deleted nearly half of them, experiments gone wrong.

Even though 25,000 photos didn't work out, each one helped me to capture those stunning photos I decided to keep.

how to take great flower photos

How to Take Great Flower PhotosWriten by Kelly Paal

I know that many out there want to improve their photography in one aspect. Flower photography. With gardening as popular as it is this shouldnt be a surprise. Flower photography while looking like one of the simplest forms of photography can quickly become one of the most difficult. Here are a few tips for you. (Keeping in mind that basic good photography skills are always used.)

  • Soft diffuse light. Today its very overcast outside, and if there were any flowers in bloom today would be the perfect day for capturing some great images. Soft diffuse light enhances color saturation, so if you wondered how or why pro photographers flower images seem so deep in color this is one of the reasons why. (There are exceptions to this rule. I do some flower photography is bright or dappled sunlight but Im usually trying to get an effect of light passing through the petals.)

  • Slow film speed. 200 speed or less. The slower speed films have greater detail and for flowers youre going to need to get close anyway and you want the nice sharp detail of a slower speed of film. I use 100 speed for my flower photography.

  • Tripod. Use one for this type of photography. Set up your shot, get everything in sharp focus, and then shoot. A tripod will keep your camera from moving on you and allow you to get the sharp detail you will need.

  • Look for great colors, a flower in full bloom next to a bud, and dont shoot on windy days. Keep contrast and color in mind at all times and try different compositions each time you take a shot.

Flower photography can be a lot of fun especially if the flowers are your own.

  • is photography school your dream

Is Photography School Your Dream?Writen by Leon Chaddock

Many dream of photography school. It is an art and a passion that few people can take and make use of. But, those that do, really can amaze the world with what they can capture on a single roll of film. But, how can you find the right school to get into? Having the right photography school on your resume really can make a bit of difference. So, take your time in choosing the right school for your choice. Chances are, youll have many options to consider when you choose correctly.

Here are some things to consider about the photography school that you will choose:

Does the school provide for you the best possible plan of study? It needs to offer to you what you want to learn now and in the future. This will help to determine how well you do in the end.

You will need to consider the format of the school as well. If you are to take photography school lessons through the college, will you be required to get a degree or will you simply take classes to gain knowledge without a degree? This is up to you, but it also is up to the school to let you in as well.

You also need to feel comfortable with the school. This is important because in art, you need the freedom to make choices. While hard and while difficult, you will want to have the freedom to do as you need to.

Youll want to find the photography school that offers the right scholarships and financial aid as well. Not all of us can afford the highest levels of education, but when you choose wisely and with good financial intentions, you can choose the right photography school.

Photography school is waiting for you. Are you ready to get started?

poppies in tuscany 1 the definitive flower picture

Poppies in Tuscany 1 The Definitive Flower PictureWriten by Kit Heathcock

A splash of scarlet poppies among lush green fields in the foreground, a medieval hill town in Tuscany, the red brick warm and glowing, in the background the photograph travel brochures dream of. People will flock to see fields of poppies. Finding the perfect combination to photograph together in real life, even in Tuscany, isnt always easy. (See my article Poppies in Tuscany the Digital Photography Alternative if youre tempted to try to create the shot digitally).

Everywhere you drive among the Tuscan hills in late May, early June the fields of poppies cut a swathe of picturesque colour and strike a chord of nostalgia in those from countries where agriculture is now dominated by herbicides and pesticides. So the poppies are everywhere, medieval towns are scattered liberally over the countryside, but to find the two strategically placed at the right angle to each other, with the right light, to get the ultimate shot, involves a lot of driving down tracks and dirt roads.

Drive south from Siena, towards Montalcino, San Quirico dOrcia and Pienza and you will find endless vistas of rolling hills, cypress trees, small towns on hills with Monte Amiata gently curving on the horizon. Here and there splashes of red lure you into finding a strada bianca (dirt road) to get closer could this be your shot? After bumping miles down tracks only to find that the promising poppy field has no view of the town beyond you are ready to consider alternatives. Perhaps a background of a lone Romanesque church with a couple of sentinel cypress trees or a tumble-down farm-house.

It is very much a matter of luck and perseverance to find the right components of the shot - the skill lies in choice of lens (telephoto or wide-angle), angle (lying low down amid the flowers or standing up to gain the panoramic view), depth of field, time of day (morning or evening light).

Look at the shot through wide-angle lens first for greatest depth of field, make sure the background town doesnt dwindle to nothing, fill the foreground with a sea of poppies. The telephoto gives more prominence to the town or church allowing a bright smudge of colour from the poppies in the foreground. Choose early morning or evening light once you have found the right place to take the shot, you will have to calculate which is better and wait it out midday sun will bleach out all colour and atmosphere.

Once the light is right shoot every possible combination of lenses, angles, apertures and framing (vertical and horizontal) that you can think of. By next week the poppies may be over or harvested and next year a different crop may have taken its place. So your shot will be unique, the definitive Poppies in Tuscany photograph of the year.

how to photograph interesting little creatures yes you will get dirty

How To Photograph Interesting Little Creatures- Yes, You Will Get Dirty!Writen by Amy Renfrey

I cant remember a time when I wasnt fascinated by animals. And not only the cute fluffy or furry ones that meow or bark, but ones on the ground that we dont see very often. Theres nothing more fascinating than those little beings like grasshoppers, butterflies, baby birds, ants, beetles and bees.

This picture of this caterpillar coming out of its cocoon to become a butterfly was seen by accident. Call it sixth sense, call it just being obsessed by any photo opportunity, but I saw it. (See picture on www.nomorebadphotos.blogspot.com)

I was doing clean up on my computer a week ago. As I waited for the computer to do its thing, I looked outside and saw something moving slowly along the brick pavement. I could not see what it was so I wandered outside to get abetter look.

There he was. This little guy was struggling to come out of his cocoon that held him snugly for all those months and now he was emerging to greet the world. I couldnt believe what fortune I had as far as a photographic opportunity had come my way. (That just seems to happen with me for some weird reason.)

I rushed back inside and grabbed my camera, my macro lenses and prayed to God I had a memory stick in the camera. I turned the camera on and it said I had memory available. Thank you God! I then leaned down and took a couple of shots, trying not to scare him away or back into his cocoon.

I got so close I accidentally breathed on him and thats what he did. Pop! He was back in there faster than anything.

So I had to wait for about 5 minutes before he stuck his head out and continued his journey again. He dragged that thing around the back garden for about half an hour, not being able to free himself of it. The patience and persistence in this little guy was amazing.

Now, okay, hes not going to win any awards for being the best looking creature in Amys garden, in fact he's really ugly, but he would win first prize for perseverance.

You will find that a lot of creatures like this, photographed up close look like something out of a horror movie, but really theyre not bad at all. (Except spiders, now they're downright evil and any one that likes to photographh them should see a shrink.) Caterpillers and other little creatures actually dont care about us at all which gives us supreme photographic advantage. They dont put their paws, wings, feelers over their faces saying oh god, dont take my picture, my hair isn't right!

This amazing guy was taken at first with no macro lens and the photo did not offer me any detail close up. When I applied the marc lenses I used 3 of them which magnified him x7. But the only problem was that because he was moving, he was out of focus many times.

So there I was, laying flat on my stomach following this guy around the garden for 15 minutes determined to get the right shot of him. So I got these ones.

I felt I was really lucky because it was an overcast day. And as you know overcast days create filtered light which is perfect for photography.

When using macro lenses you do have to be careful of two main things. The first is that they have an incredibly short depth of field. This is why I had to be fast up close with this little guy or Id hed drag him and his cocoon out of the focal point.

The second is that the closer you get to something the more you loose light. You see when something is small, or has a very small area, there wont be as much light on it as there would if this subject was large.

I took roughly 25 shots of him and came out with about 5 good ones. I wished he could have stayed still for me!

So remember if you see something like this, dont miss it because it might not happen again.

making photos part i making photographs rather than taking photographs

Making Photos; Part I - Making Photographs Rather Than Taking PhotographsWriten by Henry Bateman

The plethora of modern digital cameras has made the taking of photographs so much easier, but the making of a photograph is still as time consuming and as difficult an exercise as it has always been albeit a very rewarding one. At that point in time when you press the shutter a snap shot is taken what happens before and especially after that action is what makes for the breath taking photograph. The camera takes the snap shot the photographer makes the photograph.

A photograph like a work of art has 2 essential characteristics, it has to have something to say and it should demand attention. The more it has to say and the more profound the statements it has to make are what will push it into the realms of great art. It will engage its viewer in a conversation. How the abstract elements of line, space, form and colour are arranged will give it its wow factor, will make it stand out from the crowd. When these characteristics are both present working together with equal weight then a master piece is born.

So much of the advice on photography is concerned with the nuts and bolts of the craft. It centers around the operation of the camera, the taking of the photograph. Although handy this advice is often film centric with a manual mode of operation in mind and a pleasing snapshot as the desired end result. Today with the digital darkroom at our finger tips, the camera is just the recording device. A large number of inaccuracies recorded in the camera can be corrected with any half way decent editing software. Consequently, the mechanical operations of the camera are often best left to the machine. A photograph can be made with a fully automatic point and shoot with the judicious use of an editing program as long as the photographers aesthetic sensibilities turned on.

The most important thing that a photographer or an aspiring photographer can do is become visually literate. Look at the great works of art, if youre lucky enough in the flesh if not in books or on the net and discover what makes them so great. Why is Picassos Weeping Woman, Van Goghs The Starry Night, or Jackson Pollocks Blue Poles considered such a great work of art. Look at the work of Irving Penn, William Eggleston or Helmut Newton and see how they communicated their ideas, how they use abstract elements in that communication.

Watch TV with the sound off, how well do the pictures tell the story? Listen to radio drama, what images can you imagine to fit with the dialogue? Look at pictures in magazines, is the explanatory text needed? As you become an active viewer of the visual stimuli that surrounds you so your visual literacy will grow. It will reach a point that your subconscious will throw up the visually interesting aspects of the scenes that surround you. If you can capture them with your camera, you are well on the way to making photographs.

In the second essay on Making Photos I will offer some tips and tricks that hopefully will enhance your ability to make photographs.
